EVERY SATURDAY AT THIS TIME WE TEAM UP WITH THE PET ALLIANCE WITH THE BEST YOUR PET. WELCOMING TO THE SHOW THE CLINICAL DIRECTOR FROM THE PET ALLIANCE. HOW IS IT GOING THIS MORNING? GOOD, GOOD. REPORTER: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US. WE’RE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF PET KENTAL HEALTH MONTH AND MANY CAT OWNERS MAY HAVE PETS WITH BAD BREATH. WHY IS THAT? BAD BREATH, UNFORTUNATELY, IS A MONIKER FOR SOMETHING ELSE. REPORTER: AND WE KNOW THEY NEED THE DEEP CAN CLEANING. THEY’RE NOT AS CONSCIENTIOUS. IN THE WILD THEY CLEAN THEIR TEETH WITH BONES AND ONCE YOU HAVE CATS IN THE URBAN SETTING THEY’RE EATING PREKILLED FOOD IN A BOWL AND NOT GETTING THAT BRUSHING ACTION AGAINST THE TEETH THAT WOULD BE PROVIDED IF THEY CAUGHT A WILD PREY ITEM. BAD BREATH CAN MEAN GUM DISEASE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SEEK VETERINARIAN CARE TO TRY TO FIND OUT IS IT ACTUALLY GUM DISEASE OR IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON LIKE KIDNEY DISEASE AND LIVER DISEASE. IF THE BREATH IS REALLY STINKY, THEN IT COULD MEAN A TOOTH REMOVED. IT CAN BE. IF IT’S JUST ONE TOOTH THE THING IS THAT ONE OF THE FIRST SIGNS IS THEY WILL STOP EATING BECAUSE IT’S PAINFUL JUST LIKE US. THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO TELL YOU THAT. AND SO IF THEY STOP EATING AND THEIR BEHAVIOR CHANGES AND THEY START HIDING, THAT CAN BE AN INDICATION SOMETHING IS AMISS. HER MOUTH IS NOT A DARK PINK LINE OVER THE TOOTHGUM MARGIN. HER TEETH LOOK PRETTY GOOD. BUT IF YOU SEE A DARK RED LINE OR IF YOU SEE BLEEDING, THAT IS DEFINITELY A BAD SIGN. SO PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PET? GREAT ADVICE! REPORTER: GOOD ADVICE ALWAYS. IF YOU WANT ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT DENTAL HEALTH FOR YOUR CAT, WE’LL CONNECT YOU TO THE PET ALLIANCE AT GREATER ORLANDO
