  1. This ought to be the welcome music played for each new wasted patient entering detox, rehab or the psychiatric ward asshole!

  2. It takes a TON of musical confidence to sing/perform/suggest a song like this. I mean really. "Hey guys, I just wrote a song, listen and tell me what you think," then end the song with two minutes of you re-creating sounds from the bed of an addict in pure hell and agony. It just takes balls to sing like that and perform like that for those "In the room" without being self-conscious. John Lennon. He had prodigious balls.

  3. Today’s music is depressing cause it’s made to be depressing really no meaning behind it but old songs that are depressing like this one for example were raw and it’s the way they felt whether it sounded sad or not it . It wasn’t made plastic like sad music is now if y’all know what I mean

  4. John's time with heroin & kicking it. Eric Clapton played lead, another user. Dark and grim, vivid in its description of the downside of using heavy drugs. John & "yokos escape from the pain of reality and the shit that yoko took from some beatles fans.

  5. Your Majesty

I am returning this MBE in protest against Britain's involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam and against Cold Turkey slipping down the charts.

    With Love
    John Lennon of Bag

  6. people thought this was about a heroin overdose which john and yoko experienced, but john confided it was about food poisoning from thanksgiving leftovers…

  7. Great song. Brings back memories of when I was in high school in Renton WA. This song was on the juke box in a small cafe where the stoners hung out called the Big Red. Great times.

  8. Only 36 hours?? Just a dabbler I guess, he always lied and exaggerated, but suppose only a song doesn't have to be true, he's also not a walrus!!!

  9. "I'd wear a bloody baloon if they paid me"-John Winston Ono Lennon (October 9 1940- December 8 1980)

  10. there is a live version of this song played live in toronto in the 69 and is really better than the studio version

  11. Oh come on , he didn't scream 100%! I think that was a 40% at best. He was almost there but afraid to show his real emotions. nevertheless, love you John & Yoko!!!

  12. I totally understand. Man I have been there many times myself.. This was actually an anti drug song, but the idiots went out an banned the song.

  13. Great song. No one rocked like John.
Medical advances have helped opioid users avoid the consequences of "cold turkey" type withdrawal symptoms.

Unfortunately the damned "war on drugs" often negates some of these medical advances.

Lennon's 1970 or 71 composition here represents the stark failure of our institutions to properly address substance use.

  14. YouTube used to be fun. Out of 213 comments (11/2019) almost all from Trolls trying to do comedy and think they are hilarious. Immature and pathetic. It’s not even worth the bother of scrolling down to read anything pertaining to the video or song. I’ll give it a shot and ask if this is live audio to film or sync edited from an album. Thx in advance.

  15. You are making fantastic music in Rock n roll heaven the great gig in the sky your fans around the world miss you!! too bad you can't bring time!! if John never came to new York and stayed in England he would still be here on this.earth with us but we have his music to enjoy we love you John always now and forever and you are smiling from above we love you yeah yeah yeah John Lennon 1940-1980 George Harrison 1943-2001 be happy.always ☮️ and love to all!! Maiden manic🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

  16. The other Beatles nixed this as the next Beatles single. Yea, it's a tough listen but really – is it worse than "The Ballad of John and Yoko" which was released as a Beatles single? And is the song's vibe really so different than "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" or "Don't Let Me Down" to give just two examples? The Beatles had more than enough great material to release another album in the first half of 1970. Egos finally killed the golden goose.

  17. Temperature's rising, fever is high
Can't see no future, can't see no sky
My feet are so heavy, so is my head
    I wish I was a baby, I wish I was dead
Cold turkey has got me on the run

My body is aching, goose-pimple bone
Can't see no body, leave me alone

My eyes are wide open, can't get to sleep
One thing I'm sure of – I'm in at the deep freeze
Cold turkey has got me on the run
Cold turkey has got me on the run

    Thirty-six hours rolling in pain
Praying to someone – free me again

Oh I'll be a good boy, please make me well
I promise you anything – get me out of this hell
Cold turkey has got me on the run

    written by John Lennon

  18. Truth comes from the strangest places.
    Always remember that.
Yoko, I would not have ever talked to her.
    But, it changed everything.
    So……
There never was a jesus, jerks, you have been owned.
Information, data, research, the real history of humanity.
