My name is Krisin Holland I am a Dental Assisting
student at Montgomery Community College. I’ve always been really interested in the dental
field. When I heard about this program I decided I would try it out and if I didn’t like it
I would try something else. but so far I really like it. Whenever I was little I was scared
to go the dentist and so as i got older I realized it was something we needed so i decided
take my fears and help other kids and I want to go into the pediatric industry. Right now
we are learning how to take x-rays and all the rules that go with each film that we take
and we learned of chair-side assistance and how to work as a team with the dentist and
get everything going smoothly. Whenever I came in I knew very very little about dentistry,
just brushing my teeth, flossing, making sure everything’s right, going to check-ups at
the dentist. As we learned, we learned different procedures they do and how to perform them.
We’ve learned how to make alginate impressions and also be able to actually assist the dentist
through procedures. I started out in 2005 as a student here at MCC in the Dental Assisting
program and graduated from the program in 2006. I went to work for Asheboro Dental care.
I absolutely loved the program, loved being a student here and would recommend the campus
to anyone, love the campus, loved the staff. I fell in love with my career. I went to work
for five years, love my career, was very passionate about it. Some of the things I really like
about MCC is the small environment how everybody helps everybody out. I really like my instructors.the
one thing I really like most about MCC is the instructors, they give a lot of help.
They’re always willing to help you. If someone asked me about the Dental Assisting program
at MCC I would tell them that they should look in to it because it goes by quickly,
it’s a one year program, and if you need help paying there’s financial aid available, and
there’s always going to be people in the world who need dental care.
