I was a little nervous about Breath Perception but it was fantastic. Dawnie’s very natural and makes you feel relaxed. She has that way of making you feel very valued. I wanted to learn Breath Perception to help with the pain in my joints and the lack of sleep caused by my hypermobility. I decided to work with Dawnie originally, after working with sports psychologists and anger management people and I found it infinitely better than those because I could find someone who made me feel comfortable and I could talk to about my experience without them having any judgement at all and worked with that incredibly well. The environment felt very safe so I could just let my emotions come and go. Dawnie spent time with each participant, supporting us individually to observe and track our breathing. I found her attention soothing, effective and empowering. Well, the result is that I went from being fourth and not particularly happy with my performance to being now first in the country in under 20s and incredibly happy with my performance. Incredibly confident that I can go out in any environment and achieve the very best. Breath Perception has changed my life. It’s something that I do every day. I no longer feel that breathing is something that just happens but something that I can focus on and that I can embrace positively. My asthma is loads better and I can take personal control of situations in which previously I felt, powerless. I feel I’ve benefitted both personally and professionally from learning Breath Perception and I think I’ve found it most helpful in managing anxiety. I’ve got all these techniques that I’ve built up and that I can use and I’m confident that if my performance isn’t going well I can use them to sort it out. Breath Perception has made it easier to cope with the pain and it’s easier to sleep at night. It’s stopped me from being weepy or ecstatic when I don’t need to be, and it’s helped me with anger. It’s helped me a lot with anger. Overall, it’s just made me feel a lot better about myself. Breath Perception’s enabled me to welcome my anger, control my emotions and everything else, on piste and off piste and enabled me to get to number one in the country in Great Britain and I would say that, if someone was uncertain about whether it’s for them, absolutely give it a go because I did and it took me to where I am now and I couldn’t have done it without it.
