Today I wanted to come here and talk to us a little bit about Niacinamide I have been on the hunt to find Different ingredients that would be good for my clients when treating hyperpigmentation So that led me down the road of Obagi, which I’m currently doing the Obagi nu-derm system I’m having great success for them on hydroquinone now for probably about two months I’ve started to really research all of the things that I might want to do when I need to cycle off of my hydroquinone that got me really really looking at niacinamide and you guys I don’t even know how Everybody and their dog isn’t talking about niacinamide. I’m just gonna go quickly down the things that niacinamide does for us It’s an exciting ingredient, and it’s affordable, so let’s get started What does niacinamide do? Number one it helps with a large pores it can actually help visibly improve the size of your pores That’s pretty awesome in itself the other thing that it does and I feel like this is the biggest thing is It helps with your barrier function it help or encourage ceramide production if you suffer from Dryness because of trans epidermal water loss a healthy barrier is going to help to eliminate or control Toll transit a dermal what a lot nice and ammonia is not super photosensitive. You can wear it in the morning You can wear it at night It’s also not very expensive so you can find products with niacinamide for a really reasonable amount of money the other thing that nice in my does is it helps to improve your Skin tone it has been shown that niacinamide Actually, also works as a tyrosine ace inhibitor, which is like the hydroquinone So it also helps with the transfer of melanin to our epidermis So that is such a positive thing for those of us with melasma it niacinamide Has been shown to boost collagen production. I don’t think there’s much you need to say about that it helps boost collagen production That’s incredible you guys nice in mind also helps fight free radicals and glycation But not only that you guys it can also help reverse some of the damage of past free radicals, okay guys I’m gonna read a little bit to you from the dermatology time I want to read this to you because I don’t want to get some of these steps make it suck you guys topical niacinamide reduces fine lines and wrinkles after prolonged use a 12-week clinical study of topical 5% niacinamide emulsion demonstrated a 21 percent improvement in fine lines along with a 14% skin tone clarity and 15% radiance improvement I Think that that is so stinking amazing you guys overall it is a product. You absolutely should have in your arsenal I want to show you four products that I currently use in a rotation, and they’re all super affordable This is my elta MD. UV Claire and It has high purity niacinamide. I’m going to show you the ingredients here I’m gonna split the screen and show you the ingredients. This is such a fantastic sunscreen I’ve talked about this so many times But the really cool thing is that it has high purity niacinamide it acts for me like a primer I love it the way it fills you guys so this one is fantastic for Hyperpigmentation if you have acne if you have rosacea this one is an excellent choice. It’s non-irritating it goes on It’s not greasy. It is so so so good now a couple others that are a little less expensive. We’re gonna start We’re going to go down a level of expense here, but we have the LA roche-posay This is the tellurian double Repair moisturizer UV broad-spectrum SPF 30 Okay, guys this one has ceramides, and it has nice and amide in it this one feels amazing, too I absolutely love this one India therapy, and I talked about this in one of my last videos I think my collab with Cathy from Cathy speedy care shots anyway This is the therapy am a facial moisturizing lotion SPF 30 this one. Also has three ceramides And ionic acid this is so good. This is like under $10 and I Tell you what I really really enjoy it I find it more moisturizing than the other two that I’ve talked about So on days when I’m a little bit more dry from my retin-a and whatnot This is the one I will reach for because I really really enjoy. It’s kind of extra emollient See it’s very very good and lastly one that I’ve been incorporating lately is my Cera be p.m. Now this is the same thing this one is actually Normal to dry skin. It does have ceramides nice and my entire logic acid, but I find that it’s quite light and But moisturizing, it’s very very nice And it’s so good with your retinol retinyl system I mean I find it to just blend right on in to my retina Regime the nice and of mine is something you should add into your routine and don’t be worried about Negating something else or doing anything it will only enhance Everything else and if you are threatening I highly suggest that you get on Nice and light to help with that barrier function to help with trans epidermal water loss and to really just help with the overall Dryness of your skin and your sensitivity because it’s an anti-inflammatory It’s gonna really really help you tolerate your retina better things And I definitely wanted to point out is that you can get it in 5% if you if the package actually says a percentage 5% is kind of what has been tested it is what? is recommended for You know optimal results that kind of thing if the package doesn’t say a percentage and a lot of them Don’t say the percentage look for nine-cent of mine in the top five ingredients That’s my rule of thumb the higher up and in the ingredient deck the more There is in the product. I like to see it in the top 5 in general now 10% niacinamide it’s typically in a booster form so it’s something that you’re going to mix into Your lotions or your night creams that kind of thing you can find 10% boosters I think Paula’s Choice makes one I think the ordinary mix one there are others that make a 10% nice Center mine, but again That’s more like something you’re going to mix into something else not something that you’re generally going to put all over your face 10% can cause a little bit of irritation So you should be aware of that mix it into a different product bottom-line niacinamide is kind of a workhorse Thank you guys for watching, and I hope you enjoyed this video, please Have a wonderful wonderful week

  10. I use both the CeraVe and Paulas Choice. I have quite a few products on my counter that I use in rotation….skin care junkie. I still can't say enough about the Clearista recommendation. It has changed everything. I have been able to use my retin-a 0.1% much more consistently. If I feel like my skin needs a break I move down to the 0.05 or one of Paula's Choice 1% retinol boosters.

  11. Hi Penn thank you so much for sharing this!! I have a question do I use this day and night and can I also use this with my retin-a? I think that's what you were saying just wanted to make sure. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜˜

  12. Do you have any concern about the parabens in the CeraVe pm lotion? There seems to be much focus on the potential dangers of parabens, but I never know exactly what to believe. Thank you for sharing this information!

  18. Penn-Hope you can help with this…I having been using SkinCeuticals Retinol 1% for about 4 months and still only able to use it twice a week. Is this normal? I moved up to 3 times and it was a disaster..redness, burning, and horrible peeling.

  23. Hey girl! This was so much more in depth on this than all the other videos that I hear all the hype on. Well done. People are saying not to use it at the same time when using Retin a like at night. To use it in the day with vit c. I do not know. Anyway, I get it in my sunscreen and I am sure I have it in one of my tons of other products. lol So the B3 we can also eat which example is eggs, beans, fish, green veggies and cereal grains. xoxo

  28. I have a few products that have Niacinamide in it, I do want to get some from the Ordinary or one of those companies and add it in with a moisturizer if I do. I agree it should be something we should talk about, in what great benefits it can do for our skin ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great day!! xoxo <3

  29. Awesome video! Girl you know your stuff when it comes to skincare!! Thanks for your recommendations!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ”ฅโ˜ƒ๏ธ

  30. I started using Niacinimide serum after seeing Monika M. talk about it. ย I am hoping it works for my pores. ย It is in many of my lotions I use also. ย ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. Wow thank you for this information. Will be looking for this ingredient. Thank you for sharing!โค๏ธโœจโค๏ธ

  32. Niacinamide is one of the best vitamins for skin! Itโ€™s one everyone can use, as long as you arenโ€™t overusing it and causing a flush (what people often think is irritation from or sensitivity to it). I love this La Roche Posay moisturizer! I use both of them, the regular and UV formula. They are just so good and have transformed my skin from sensitive, dry, reactive acne to smooth, clear, calm, and nourished skin!

  33. All Cereve products have parabens, what's your comment on that? Personally, I won't use anything with parabens.

  34. Hi Penn! Really appreciated this informative video. Thanks!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’„๐ŸŒบ

  35. Hey Penn, can you recommend a good line for rosacea and antiaging?. I don't so much get the acne form anymore just redness, broken capillaries, etc. I have been hearing about the ZO line. Do you have any thoughts? I am very interested in cell turn over, collagen building, etc without too much irritation. Thank you so much. I enjoy your channel!

  36. So glad you mentioned the niacinamide from the ordinary. Since all their serums are 1 product only, I feel a little intimidsted.

  37. Hi! Thank you for this informative video. I have a quick question. I use the Cereve PM lotion in the morning and was wondering if I could mix The Ordinary 10% Niacinimide with it or would that be too much Niacinimide to use at one time? I use Tretinoin .1% every night for my melasma. Thank you for your help.

  38. Great info, thank you! Just note that the CeraVe product contains Aluminum which is toxic & the CeraVe pm contains two parabens which are carcinogenic, please folks do not use.
