O’Connor Dental Health Dentist in Ballincollig, Republic of Ireland
Address: 1a, Barr Na Sraide, Main St, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, Ireland We care more about your teeth
Your health is our priority with all of them is to get them back to
health it’s not about straight teeth I explained that to all that all the
parents that come in the door this isn’t just about getting your child’s teeth
straight here we want to get the child back to health and many of them don’t
realize that all the issues that they possibly are presented with are actually in
health you gotta look at the whole child the teeth are just attached to the bones as soon as the parent is aware of these
things they need to be getting the answers early on from a dentist who’s
aware how all dentists should be aware that these these are not normal signs a
child who’s whose mouth breathing, who’s grinding their teeth, who’s having these
nightmares regularly, are having sore throats regularly, they’re not normal
that’s not normal and that’s that needs to be identified early enough that these
could be indications that the airway is being compromised and that child’s
airway is very very important. it’s developing very quickly and something
can be done about it they can be turned around I think the the information
that’s out there in general is that children should not really be assessed
at all for maybe orthodontics untill they are 11 or 12 or at least no
treatments really offered until they’re at least 12 or 13 years of age
now and the fact is that’s when growth is nearly over they’ve got to be seen
earlier why wait till the problem gets worse when you know these problems are
starting you can see them starting at three four years of age and if you start
looking at them at data age it makes no sense whatsoever to keep waiting till
it’s going to get worse and worse this is the super important thing about
treating children early enough is that you can guide a face to grow forward to
get the jaws further forward improve the size of the airway and as soon as the
airway is bigger they’re breathing better they’re sleeping better they’re
standing better looking better. I’m still a general
dentist I still do routine fillings we still
provide dentures, crowns so the the same services that other practices are
offering we were offering the same thing here they have to say that without the
team I have around me number one our team here is Bridget my wife who’s
trained myofunctional therapist she’s passionate about her job she’s an
academic she reads all the the latest scientific literature she’s a former
schoolteacher so she has an absolute passion for teaching we would not be
able to achieve what we’re doing with out her we also have my long-term
dental nurse Emily who’s wonderful with children, has a wonderful personality
with them and we now have a new nurse with us as well Tracy who’s also got
fantastic talents and we also work with cranial Osteopathy and I do work closely
with a French lady Natalie to work on the body structure and also to help us
out with some cranial distortions that we can identify at a young age so all of
these people are so important it’s a team effort it’s multidisciplinary
