Welcome to the Serene breathing exercise
with Polar Ignite. Serene is a breathing exercise feature that can help you
manage stress and calm down your body and mind. The breathing exercise can help you
in many different ways. In the morning it can prepare you for the day with the serene mindset. After work and during breaks it can help you unwind your thoughts. In the evening it can help you fall asleep more easily and sleep more
soundly and boost your recovery. Before competition or an important event it can help you focus your energy. When you breathe slowly
your heartbeat starts to synchronize to the rhythm of your breathing. Adjust the duration of inhaling and
exhaling to your liking so that breathing feels comfortable and the
rhythm is easy to follow. The optimal breathing rate for relieving stress
is six breaths per minute. You might need to try breathing with different rhythms to find out what works best for you. Check that you’re wearing your Polar watch snugly. Sit or lie down comfortably. Check that your position allows you to keep your arms relaxed and your hands still throughout the entire breathing exercise.
This allows you to relax properly and ensures that your Polar watch can
accurately measure the effects of the session. Start the session and follow the
breathing guidance on the screen or through the vibration. The main guiding element in the
animation changes color according to which serenity zone you’re currently on. The serenity zones are: Diamond, Sapphire, and Amethyst. Serenity zones tell you how
well your heartbeat and breathing are in sync and how close you are to the
optimal breathing rate of six breaths per minute. For the highest serenity zone
Diamond you need to be able to sustain the slow target rhythm of six breaths
per minute or slower. After the exercise you’ll see a results as time spent in
the different serenity zones. The more time you spend in the higher zones the more benefits you can expect to feel in the long-term. After getting familiar with deep
breathing with Serene we recommend you to begin slowly increasing the duration
of your breathing sessions. After some practice it’s likely you’ll find it
easier to slow down the pace of your breathing closer to the optimal rhythm
of six breaths per minute. With regular practice you may notice improvements in
your sleep and resilience to stress. Deep breathing with Serene can help you
make a positive impact on your overall well-being.
