(inspirational music) – It was my first national of the year. I was feeling good and I was ready to go. I lined up in the gate for my first race. I felt like it would be a solid lap but, as I was going down second straight I crashed and, it was just
a blind moment, you know. (crowd murmuring) I had a lacerated spleen,
two broken metacarpals. The bones in my arm, they
were broken at the top. I also had a concussion. I knew that I need a good
group of people to trust to work on my body, because I’m really broken up this time. And if I’m gonna come back, my bones need to be fully
healed with strength and mobility in the hand and wrist. Am I gonna make something
better out of it? Or am I just gonna dwell on it? Instead, it inspired me to keep going. The biggest thing I needed
to get done was surgery. Got the pins in there. It took a little bit, but once
they took the cast back off, I had to get physical therapy. I made my recovery through TCO, and when I came back I just, I didn’t know
what was gonna happen, I really didn’t know. I felt good going into it. I had practice and a
lot of time on the bike and good things happened and I was able to pull off a national win my first race back. All the work that I put in
to get back to doing this and everything that
TCO did to help me out, it’s incredible. Big goal for the future
is be in Elite Men, the biggest class in BMX racing and I wanna be an olympian.
