OKAY, ROSACEA IS A REALLY COMMON
CONDITION THAT OCCURS. THE RARER FORM OF IT
IS WHAT YOU HAVE, WHICH IS RHINOPHYMA. RHINOPHYMA HAPPENS MORE
IN MEN THAN WOMEN, AND IT HAPPENS PREDOMINANTLY
ON THE NOSE. BUT IT CAUSES
A THICKENING OF THE SKIN. I KNOW I HAVE
A PRETTY SERIOUS CASE. DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN
GET A LOT OF THIS ROUGHNESS? UM… WELL, LET ME TAKE
A LOOK AT YOU HERE, FIRST. CAN YOU TAKE YOUR GLASSES OFF
FOR ME? PATRICK HAS A VERY SEVERE FORM
OF RHINOPHYMA. IN FACT,
IT IS THE MOST ADVANCED CASE THAT I’VE EVER SEEN. SO, BEFORE I CAN BE SURE
THAT I CAN TREAT HIM, I NEED TO TAKE
A REALLY GOOD LOOK. YOU CAN SEE
HOW YOUR NOSTRILS ARE PRETTY NORMAL HERE, AND THEN IT JUST CHANGES
RIGHT HERE. KIND OF CAUSING THEM TO
CLOSE DOWN A LITTLE BIT, HUH? I MEAN,
IT’S VIRTUALLY CLOSED. THE WEIGHT OF THIS — THIS IS, LIKE,
WEIGHING DOWN ON YOU. Patrick: EVERYBODY ASKS ME
IF I CAN BREATHE. I THINK I CAN BREATHE, BUT IT’S PROBABLY NOT —
YEAH, YOU CAN. BUT I BET YOU…
IT’S NOT AS GOOD. YEAH, I BET YOU
WHEN YOU REMOVE THAT, YOU’RE GONNA BE LIKE,
“WOW, NOW I CAN BREATHE.” AFTER EXAMINING PATRICK, MY MAIN CONCERN IS
THE COMPRESSION OF HIS NOSTRILS. SO NOT ONLY IS THIS
A COSMETIC CONCERN, IT IS ABSOLUTELY
A FUNCTIONAL CONCERN. AND, SO, I THINK
THAT’S THE FIRST PLACE THAT I SHOULD TREAT HIM. I THINK
THAT I CAN DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS BETTER
FOR YOU. BUT I THINK
I SAW ON YOUR CHART YOU’RE ON A BLOOD THINNER.
YEAH. WERE YOU ABLE TO STOP IT? SOMEWHAT? I HAVEN’T STOPPED IT,
BUT I WENT TO HALF A DOSE. ♪♪ THIS IS AN UNEXPECTED PROBLEM. MY STAFF ROUTINELY
CALLS MY PATIENTS BEFORE ANY VISITS OR ANY PROCEDURES
THAT WE’RE DOING TO MAKE SURE
THAT THEY’RE PREPARED. AND MY STAFF TOLD PATRICK TO PLEASE STOP
HIS BLOOD THINNERS. BUT FOR SOME REASON, HE DECIDED TO JUST
DECREASE THE DOSE TO HALF, AND THAT’S REALLY
NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I’M WORRIED ABOUT THE FACT THAT
IF WE TREAT THIS ENTIRE NOSE, IT WILL JUST BLEED AND BLEED
AND NOT STOP. MY MAIN CONCERN IS
I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOUR CLOTTING ABILITY IS
IN YOUR BLOOD. PATRICK
IS ON A BLOOD THINNER BECAUSE OF A PREVIOUS HISTORY OF DEVELOPING BLOOD CLOTS
IN HIS LEG WHILE HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. SO, SINCE THEN, HE HAS BEEN ON A LOW-DOSE
BLOOD THINNER INDEFINITELY. I THINK
IT’S TOO DANGEROUS FOR US TO BE
TREATING YOUR NOSE AND FOR YOU
TO POTENTIALLY BLEED LIKE THAT AND WE CAN’T CONTROL IT. YEAH,
THAT WOULDN’T BE GOOD. NO,
THAT WOULDN’T BE GOOD. IT COULD BE DANGEROUS, THE FACT THAT
PATRICK IS ON BLOOD THINNER AND FOR ME TO DO THIS PRETTY EXTENSIVE OPERATION
ON HIS NOSE. I KNOW HE’S NOT GONNA BE HAPPY
ABOUT THE FACT THAT I DON’T REALLY WANT
TO TREAT HIS ENTIRE NOSE TODAY. BUT HIS SAFETY COMES FIRST. I’M NOT GONNA DO ANYTHING
THAT’S HARMFUL FOR YOU. SO, LET ME TRY
TO FIGURE THIS OUT HERE A LITTLE BIT, OKAY?
OKAY. ♪♪ UH, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. I TRAVELED ALL THIS DISTANCE TO GET THE PROCEDURE DONE
IF I COULD. ♪♪

  1. I hope everyone learned a lesson. He should have followed directions and stopped or communicated back that he was told not to or can't stop taking the meds. Communicate!

  2. When they tell you to stop blood thinners you stop blood thinners. Your long drive for nothing is your fault.

  3. Are you really complaining that she doesn't want to help you? It's just plain naughty. If you came from Venus or Mars, you have not done what you got rskjed about, to cut out blood thinners completely, not just reduce the dosage to half.. Why do not you ride to the fine doctor shown you were afraid to stop completely in some weeks ahead.

  4. He should’ve done as he was told. As with any type of medical procedure, whether that be surgery, removal of extra skin from the surface, etc. if there is a risk of bleeding and you are on any type of anticoagulants (aka blood thinners) you are told to stop them at least 2 days at the most a week before. It is technically not the job of the doctor performing the surgery to inform the patient’s other physicians of the procedure due to HIPAA laws, that is the patient’s responsibility. Plus if the doctors typically do check if for anything that could compromise the procedure and do go over risks and possible complications beforehand with the patient before the procedure is performed.

It is not her fault that she is unable to do the procedure, it was his. Because of his failure to follow instructions:

  5. Why upload a clip without the procedure? This made me annoyed because I thought we'd see the procedure but noooo, and she doesn't even link a full episode.

  6. can u tell me why does je take blood thinners, I don t understand very well cause english is not my tongue language… he takes for his noise the blood thinners?? thanks

  7. I don't get why he didn't stop the blood thinners. In order for her to have requested him to stop taking them she had to talk to his doctor to make sure it was safe for him to be off of the med for so many days. His doctor must have said it was fine otherwise they wouldn't have told him to stop taling them. His own fault and I can't feel bad for him.

  8. I'm over her complaining about the size of my nose and then I come across this video.. my heart goes out to this guy….wow everything is about perspective

  9. Why do those american idiots wait so long to treat such an issue? do they gotta spend their lifesavings on it or something what the hell…

  10. You are an idiot, you were told to stop the blood thinners and you decided not to and you still expected her to treat you, idiot

  11. I watched that episode. He eventually got his procedure. He only delayed things by failure to follow pretty specific instructions to stop taking blood thinners and aspirin.

  12. This guy has no one to blame but himself. Next time do what the doctor tells you to do. He was specifically told to STOP taking the blood thinners and instead because he knew better decided to only lower the dosage.

  13. The people talking about touching his nose with no gloves….it's not contagious 🤦‍♀️ and it's clean, unbroken skin. Grow up.

  14. Please make tlc availible At europe too. I am from germany and i can only watch the parts you put on YouTube because the website does not work international

  15. I’m no joking or being mean when I ask this Who beat this old guy’s Noise oh buddy looks like it was hit with a meat hammer!

  16. People here be yelling at him for not stopping blood thinners.

Do y’all know that if you stop blood thinners it can and will kill you?

If you want to bash this guy, bash him for not meeting with his PCP and talking to them about the operation he wanted to get done. I’m sure something could’ve been done to let him have the surgery if he just reached out to his PCP.

  17. He's upset because he traveled so far but he didn't do what she said …STOP taking your blood thinner….he was supposed to talk to his doctor and stop them and go back on them when it was done …so he can't get mad at her…

  18. Think about it if he had to travel a long way, sitting for a long time, it may have been dangerous for him if he had not just reduced his blood thinners. Have a little compassion!

  19. Stop posting such unfeeling comments about what this guy should have done to have his treatment..he is feeling embarrassed sad and probably has a degree of anxiety..give him a break! Poor guy .

  20. I feel bad for him cause he didn’t really have a choice. Like a specialist probably told him to not stop being on a blood thinner because it’s a health risk, but he has to stop being on them to get the nose procedure done. How hard and sad must that be…
