About Tooth Decay So, tooth decay is when you get holes in your
teeth. But how does this happen? Well, inside your mouth there are loads of
bacteria. These tiny, tiny little creatures that are so small your eyes can’t see them. When you eat food, they eat some of it too.
They particularly love things like sugar. So sweets, fizzy pop and chocolate. When you eat these foods, your sharing them
with bacteria, which is really annoying, especially when you find out what they do to your teeth. So the bacteria eat sugar. They eat sugar
and they make acid. This acid is then pooed out onto the surface of your teeth which damages
them. The more sugar you eat, the more acid the
bacteria make. Given time, the acid will cause more and more damage to your teeth which can
eventually cause that hole to start. The tooth is now much weaker. The tooth is
ill and it may start to hurt. This is tooth decay. Sugar + Bacteria=Acid Acid + Time=Tooth decay It’s not much fun and that’s why we need to
