hey guys I’m excited to announce this
video is the first of many in a series! if you’ve never done
yoga before that’s okay this series is for you my whole goal of this series is
to teach you guys the fundamentals you need to start yoga practice if you want
to keep up to date on this series don’t forget to head down below hit that

notified when a new video is uploaded so in today’s video we’re going to be going
over pranayama which is simply breath technique breathing techniques
specifically ‘Ujjayi’ which is the breath we breathe while practicing yoga we use
this Ujjayi breath as a tool to help us stay connected to our body help us stay
present in the moment as well as to remind ourselves that this moment is in
fact going to pass just like the next breath and the next breath each inhale
fully expanding finding more space in the pose each exhale releasing sinking
deeper into the pose this breath can also become a guide and a cue, moving
with your breath creating that flow, vinyasa. Ujjayi breath sounds almost
like waves it has an ocean-like sound to it inhales then exhales through your
nose and there’s a slight constriction that happens at the back of your throat
that helps create that ocean-like sound as though you’re fogging up a mirror or
a glass okay that’s enough talking about it lets get
breathing five breaths together inhale full breath exhale empty inhale feel where your
breath goes empty out full breath in feel yourself rise exhale where does your
breath go inhale exhale one more full breath in
empty out awesome Ujjayi that breath the we just practiced is a huge key element to your yoga practice another cool little fact about Ujjayi is it does support you
physically sending oxygen to your muscles as well as naturally helping
calm your nervous system so keep that in mind next time you’re practicing your

  1. How do you like, do the breath? I inhale, but the throat is supposed to make some sort of rushing noise, how does it get there?

  2. Good video of me breathing while doing yoga. You know, my dance teacher (Ms. Gerstein) do some yoga exercises for me and the students to just be fit. And that is all. Keep on uploading more of your yoga videos in the future, Jordan! : )
